Kiwanis is a global organization of members dedicated to serving the children of the world.
Local clubs look out for our communities and the international organization takes on large-scale challenges, such as fighting disease and poverty.
The name “Kiwanis” comes from a Native American term “Nun Keewanis”, which means “I make a noise” and was intended to convey the idea “to make oneself known and to impress”. The Kiwanis International motto is “We Build”.
For more than a century, Kiwanis has created opportunities for children to be curious, safe and healthy regardless of the community in which they live. When you give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed and thrive, great things can happen.
Here is a quick video from Kiwanis International explaining the purpose and impact of Kiwanis at the global level.

The annual Camp Independence cleanup and fundraiser is scheduled for May 6th. Since 2010, YMCA Camp Independence has provided an empowering, accessible summer camp option for children and young adults with spina bifida and other neurological disabilities.
